Verkhovna Rada refused to accept the Government's crisis package.

Verkhovna Rada refused to consider three anti-crisis draft law prepared by the Government of Ukraine. UNIAN reported. In particular, the agenda did not include a bill to amend the Law on Budget of Ukraine for 2009 and the laws on pension provision.
Total consideration for the Ukrainian Parliament had before it five draft laws. Two of them - to raise excise taxes on tobacco, alcohol and diesel fuel - the Verkhovna Rada adopted. That was reported by Reuters.
Earlier, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said that the Government's anti-crisis package will allow the budget to get additional revenue of $ 6 billion hryvnia (750 million dollars).
After the voting in the Verkhovna Rada, has been completed, Timoshneko announced that it intends to hold with Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko further consultations. However, it is not excluded that in the not-taken Rada may be amended bills, Interfax reports. It is expected that draft legislation will be introduced by the parliament 1 April 2009.
The bill proposing changes to the budget law, would give Ukraine the main financial document into line with the requirements of the IMF. As a result, Ukraine was able to receive the second tranche of the credit crisis fund, the total amount of which is 16.4 billion dollars.
