Earlier, the Bank of Russia reported that sold in early 2009 about 40 billion dollars of its international reserves. According to official data of the Central Bank on January 2 this year, the reserves stood at 426 billion dollars.
Central Bank of Russia to spend international reserves in the autumn of 2008. Funds are spent on maintaining a relatively high rate and a controlled devaluation of the currency. From September to December last year, the Central Bank sold the currency on the 169 billion dollar equivalent.
In late January, the Central Bank management stated to end the devaluation of the ruble, setting the upper limit of bivalyutnoy cart (0.55 USD, plus 0.45 euros) at around 41 rubles. In early February, the Russian currency have come close to this point, but then stopped speculators attack on the ruble, the Russian currency and the rate again began to grow.
