The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia has begun to calculate indicative prices for the six basic food products. The statement was made by the head of department Alexey Gordeev, RIA News. He said prices, which are the Ministry of Agriculture, would be economically justified, and they will provide cost-effective.
New prices will be taken into account when entering into agreements between producers and processors of agricultural products, said Interfax. It was expected that guidance from the Ministry of Agriculture will do away with unreasonably high prices for socially important goods.
For what products will be introduced, new prices, Gordeyev not specified. We know only that one of the six products will be milk.
Earlier, Vice-Premier of Russia Viktor Zubkov said that the maximum retail price of a kilogram of bread should not exceed 25 rubles. "If a man comes into the store and buys a kilo of bread for 45 rubles, then what mood he will be there?" - Said Zubkov. February 11, he asked the Federal Antimonopoly Service to check the pricing in the dairy market.
Recall that the government in 2008 failed to reduce the rate of price growth, and inflation stood at 13,3 percent. One of the reasons for such high inflation has been an increase in food prices.
In autumn 2007, the Government, headed by Viktor Zubkov, was able to negotiate with manufacturers and sellers of food for the freezing of prices for socially significant products (milk, eggs, vegetable oil and bread). The initial freeze was to last until February, but then the price was kept at the same level, another three months. After that food was once again in price.
The pace of price growth in early 2009 outstripped that of last year. The official forecast for inflation for 2008 is 13 per cent, but it is possible that it will be reviewed.
