The number of officially registered unemployed in the week from 21 to 28 January rose by 94 thousand (6 percent) to 1.642 billion reported in the official press release MHSD. At the same time the Ministry has received information about the dismissals at 16.87 thousand organizations in the country.
The most substantial increase in the number of unemployed registered with employment service for a week, occurred in Kostroma, Lipetsk, Smolensk, Tver, Ulyanovsk, Kaluga, Chelyabinsk, Vologda, Orenburg and Novgorod regions.
In addition, during the week, 970 companies announced the relocation of employees to part-time work or providing forced to leave. Number of employees who fell within the scope of these regulations across the country amounted to 673 thousand people.
The sharp increase in the number sent on leave on initiative of the administration and transferred to half-time was due to changes in the law on employment of population. Under the new rules came into effect on January 1, employers are obliged to share with the employment information on the introduction of part-time working day or part-time working week, as well as temporary suspension of work.
Recall that a projection of the Deputy Minister of Health Maksim Topilina, the number of unemployed people into at the end of 2009, nearly 7 million people, and the number of officially unemployed people will increase to 2.2 million people, 50 per cent more than at the beginning of the year.
