Igor Sechin promised to increase oil production in Russia.

In 2009, will be maintained a positive level of oil production due to significant investments in prior periods. The statement was made by Vice-Premier Igor Sechin, RIA News. According to him, the oil industry in Russia is stable and does not require an emergency approach.
Vice Prime Minister also said that Russia could either reserve or purchase from the oil companies, 16 million tons of surplus. These volumes can be placed in a reserve of oil. Previously, it was reported that a similar reserve fund Russia will begin to form in March.
Recall that in 2008 Russia was recorded declines in oil production. Compared to 2007 the country was extracted at 0.7 per cent less oil - 488.1 million tons. This gas production increased by 1,7 percent.
In 2008, the vice-president of Lukoil, Leonid Fedun said that in 2007 Russia has reached peak oil production, which would not be repeated.
Russia's largest oil producer outside the Organization of the countries - exporters of petroleum (OPEC), which sets quotas for its members on the production of oil. With the help of these quotas, OPEC is trying to regulate the price of oil on the world market. Previously, Russia had agreed with OPEC to coordinate their actions with each other.
