Thus, from March 18, the number of registered unemployed in Russia grew by 66 thousand people.
According to official government forecasts of unemployment in Russia by the end of the year was 2.2 million. In early March, the head of MHSD Tatiana Golikova stated that this figure could grow to 2.8 million (negative scenario), and the total number of unemployed is expected to reach seven million people (now - 6.4 million).
Ministry of Health reported an increase in unemployment of approximately once a week. On March 25 the number of registered unemployed stood at 2.164 billion people, but on March 18 - 2133 million people.
The World Bank estimates that the number of officially registered unemployed in 2009 will grow to 2.7 million.
March 30, Vice Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov said that the peak growth of unemployment in Russia passed, though not explained why he believes so. From 1 October 2008 the number of officially registered unemployed persons increased by 1.7 million people.
