Rosstat published the first full assessment of the GDP for 2008.

In nominal terms, the country's GDP, according to Rosstat was 41,668 trillion rubles. Ministry of Finance of Russia in the draft amended in the light of the federal budget crisis of 2009-evaluated last year, produced in GDP in 41540 trillion rubles.
In 2007, Russia's economic growth reached 8.1 percent, while nominal GDP amounted to 33,114 trillion rubles. In 2009, the Ministry of Economic Development forecast, reducing the country's GDP will reach 2.2 percent.
In mid-March, the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Elvira Nabiullina reported that for the first two months of 2009 the decline in GDP amounted to eight percent. Planned that the first quarter decline in the Russian economy will reach about seven percent.
In late March, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which brings together the 30 most economically developed countries in the world, Russia has predicted the 2009 fall of the economy at 5.6 percent. Earlier, the World Bank had forecast that the fall of Russia's GDP this year will be 4.5 percent.
