Now the total amount of loans, which Russia agreed to Minsk, is 3.5 billion dollars.
Earlier, Russian media reported that the unofficial Russian Ministry of Finance has refused to Minsk in the loan to move to direct payments in rubles in foreign trade, but the leadership of Belarus argues that negotiations with Moscow are not completed. In doing so, the National Bank of Belarus said that the Government of Russia did not send a formal request for a loan, but the negotiations have the status of prior consultation.
Moscow and Minsk have agreed Belarus stabilization loan of $ 2 billion in autumn 2008. According to Surikov, Russia Minsk will provide $ 500 million second tranche of the loan by 2 billion dollars, following the adoption of revised draft federal budget of Russia for 2009.
The new loan may secure the reserves of Belarus in the event of failure of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to provide the second tranche of credit for 788 million dollars. The first tranche of Minsk had already received in March 2008, but guarantees for the second tranche has not.
Recall that, in addition to loans from Russia, Belarus has also received loans from the International Monetary Fund - 2.5 billion dollars, as well as from Venezuela - 500 million dollars.
