According to official figures, in 2009, inflation stood at 13-14 per cent. In the first half of the price will grow by about 10 percent, then the rate of increase in cost of goods will decline. This will be due to the seasonal factor (maturing crop) and the fall in consumer demand.
In the context of the global financial crisis in many countries the pace of price increases began to decline, and in some states recorded deflation. In Russia, with a substantial drop in GDP prices continue to rise.
In the report the Ministry of Economic Development, dated mid-March, said that inflation is a major threat to the economy. The main reasons for the pace of price growth officials called an attempt to devalue the ruble and companies to improve their financial situation in a fall in output.
In March, the Government of Russia promised that by 2010, reduce inflation to 10 percent and by 2011 - up to seven and a half per cent.
