Georgia joined in the project pipeline, bypassing Russia.

The Minister of Energy of Georgia Alexander Khetaguri has signed a memorandum on cooperation in the project pipeline "White Stream", Interfax reports. This project involves the supply of the EU gas from Central Asia through Georgia and Ukraine.
According to the director of "White stream" Roberto Piran, the construction of the pipeline is scheduled to begin in 2012. The first phase of the project provides for completion in 2015. According to him, pre-work will be to fund the EU, and to this end have already been allocated three grants.
The "White Stream" developed by British company White Stream Pipeline. His power in the first phase is planned to reach 8 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, with a view to increase three-fold.
At the same time, EU countries involved in the development of another gas pipeline which will supply gas, bypassing Russia - Nabucco. Although the project has several transit countries, it is unclear who will be the supplier of gas. Question of the vendors are not resolved in the case of the "white stream".
In turn, Russia plans to supply gas in the Mediterranean region and Central Europe through the pipeline "Southern stream", the timing of putting that into operation more than once relegated. The potential throughput of the pipeline is 47 billion cubic meters a year.
