In 2009, Russia took 59 th place in the ranking of competitiveness of the tourism sector (TTCI), which prepared the experts from the World Economic Forum (WEF). At 58 place in the ranking is Poland, a 60-m - Jamaica.
In 2008, Russia took place in a rating of 64. Total specialists WEF to assess the situation in the sphere of tourism in 133 countries.
In the rating of Russia WEF takes place in a higher rating than most of its neighbors. Thus, Ukraine has gained 77 th place, Georgia - 73, and Kazakhstan - only 92 th place. Among the BRIC countries, Russia is ahead of only India (62 th), but inferior to Brazil (45 th) and China (47 th).
The first three took place in the rating of Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Also in the top ten ranking is composed of the leaders of France, Canada, Spain, Sweden, USA, Australia and Singapore.
TTCI rating takes into account such indicators as the level of development of the country's infrastructure, security of tourists, the political stability of States, as well as many others.
In early February, the Russian media, citing data Rosturizma, reported that during the last months of 2008 the Russian market for inbound tourism fell by 60 per cent. In the first three quarters of 2008, officials watched vosmiprotsentny increase in the number of tourists. The number of Russians who travel abroad for turputevkam in the last months of 2008 decreased by 20-30 percent.
