Romania has asked the EU and the IMF crisis loans.

According to the Ministry of Finance of Romania, the money needed to ensure the country's economic stability, as well as to implement measures to mitigate the effects of the global financial crisis. Earlier, the authorities adopted a crisis plan, which was completely frozen funding for the government, as well as provide for billions of dollars on infrastructure projects.
According to the Government of Romania, the country's GDP in 2009 to grow by 2.5 per cent and fiscal deficit of 2 percent of GDP. According to the Ministry of Finance of Romania, the economy in the first quarter of 2009 will grow by less than the percentage. For comparison, in 2008 GDP grew by 8.2 per cent.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Hungary Ferenc Dyurchan on behalf of the countries of Eastern Europe, the European Commission asked for financial assistance in the amount of 190 billion euros. According to the prime minister, the money would help Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Bulgaria and Romania to overcome the effects of the crisis. 5 March 2009 at the EU summit it was decided to refuse Dyurchanyu at his request. It was decided that the European Commission will provide assistance to these countries separately.
In late February it became known that a group of international financial institutions began to build fund to assist banks in Central and Eastern Europe. The assistance will be 24.5 billion euros, while its establishment will be attended by the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and European Investment Bank.
Previously, some Eastern European countries have requested assistance from the IMF. In doing so, Hungary and Latvia have already received a crisis loan in the amount of 14,5 and 1,6 billion respectively. Previously, loans were also Belarus and Ukraine.
