Putin urged not to compare the crisis in the U.S. with the Great Depression.

Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin believes that the current crisis in the U.S. can not be compared with the Great Depression years 1929-1931. That was reported by RIA Novosti.
During his meeting with the Russians in Podil Center Employment Putin recalled that during the Great Depression of the total production in the U.S. fell by 40 percent, and the current recession is about two percent. "So now anything even comparable to the tragedy there," - added prime.
The head of the Russian government also urged the Russians not to believe in rumors about the appearance of the world's new currency. "The U.S. political and financial power will never go to pass the position of the dollar, they will last up to fight for it," - said Putin. On the question of whether to strengthen the Russian ruble, the prime minister replied: "sure." He also added that the Russians will feel the improvement of economic situation in the country in the first quarter of 2010.
Global financial and economic crisis that began with the collapse of the housing market in the U.S. in 2006-2007, and aggravated in the second half of last year, has already raised most of the world. In many states, including the U.S., it has led to a slowdown in economic growth, rising unemployment and industrial decline. In January this year promproizvodstva in the U.S. fell by 1.8 per cent. The decline was the fourth month in succession.
Many economists and politicians have compared the economic crisis in the U.S. with the Great Depression. In particular, March 4, the newspaper Kommersant published an article by Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rädda (Kevin Rudd), who compared the output from the current crisis with the failure of the American Great Depression.
