Organization of the countries - exporters of petroleum (OPEC) decided to leave oil production quotas unchanged until May 2009. The statement was made by Iraqi Oil Minister Hussain al-Shahristani, said AFP.
Thus, the quota of oil production of OPEC countries will remain at 24.84 million barrels a day. Since the economic crisis of the organization three times daily reduced the rate of production, to stimulate the rise in oil prices. The desired results are, however, not led.
Qatari Energy Minister Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyya (Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah) reported that the next meeting of the OPEC conference in Vienna on 28 May. It was members of the organization re-assess the situation on the market.
The members of OPEC comprises 12 countries: Algeria, Angola, Venezuela, Iraq, Iran, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.
