The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has charged Russia that the world financial crisis has reached Belarus.
In an interview with TV channel Euronews Lukashenko stated that Belarus spoke about the crisis, "when all the Russians stood in line at banks and began to change in the ruble currency to dollars, translated into euros."
Therefore, the president explained, Minsk was forced to devote part of foreign reserves to maintain the Belarusian ruble to devalue the national currency and 20 percent for loans.
However, he said that the crisis had not yet had a serious negative impact on the Belarusian economy. "We did not play in the financial pyramid, is not involved in stock speculation, we have not thrown up its economy on Wall Street," - added Lukashenko.
He stressed that the country will overcome this crisis, as has already crossed two of these crisis, and then the economy was poslabee.
As reported in early 2009, the International Monetary Fund has provided loans to Belarus, 2.5 billion dollars. The first tranche has already entered the country.
