National Bank of Kazakhstan held on 4 February devaluation of the currency, weakening the tenge against the dollar by 25 per cent. That was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the statement by the head of the National Bank of Grigory Marchenko.
National Bank of Kazakhstan Tenge course brought against the dollar from 120 to 150 tenge. According to Marchenko, and further assumes that the tenge against the dollar will stay close to the mark at 150 tenge to the variation of about 3 per cent.
Earlier, Minister of Economy and Budget Planning of the country Bakhyt Sultanov said that the devaluation of tenge will not exceed 10 percent. In the budget of Kazakhstan, it is assumed that the dollar amount to 123,5 tenge.
Since October 2008, Kazakhstan's National Bank has sent to the maintenance of the course tenge six billion dollars, transmits "Interfax" agency. Foreign reserves in January 2009 decreased by 1,1 percent and reached 46.2 billion dollars.
In early 2009, the devaluation of the currency also held Belorussiya. Rate of the Belarusian ruble against the dollar and the euro has weakened almost 20 percent. Starting from 2 January, the dollar went from 2200 to 2650 rubles, while the euro - from 3077 to 3703 rubles.
 In Russia, Central began to smooth the devaluation of the ruble in mid-November 2008. January 22, 2009 devaluation of the soft phase was completed when the Central Bank established the upper limit of the corridor at the level of exchange of 41 rubles. Prior to this, the official exchange rate has exceeded 36 rubles and euros - 46 rubles.
