According to the Ministry, inflation in Russia in 2009 will be 10-12 per cent, and according to Klepach, reaches 13 percent. Earlier, Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said that this year's expected 13 percent rise in prices. For comparison, in the last year inflation in the country was 13.3 percent, and the year before - 11.9 percent.
One of the main causes of inflation in 2009 was the devaluation of the ruble against the major currencies. This has led to an increase in the value of imports and raise tariffs of natural monopolies. Thus, the cost of electricity since the beginning of the year increased by 18.9 per cent.
