The statement was made by an authorized Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko on international issues of economic security Bogdan Sokolovsky. His words refer Interfax.
Previously, it was reported that the prime ministers of Russia and Ukraine Vladimir Putin and Yulia Tymoshenko have agreed on the price of gas and the cost of fuel transit through Ukrainian territory. Under the terms of the agreement, Gazprom will sell the fuel in 2009 at a discount of 20 per cent of the market. At the same time for Russia to remain favorable conditions for the transit price of 2008. Thus, the statement Sokolovsky actually meant that he had proposed to revise the previously reached agreements.
The contract in 2009 between Gazprom and Naftogaz of Ukraine to be signed January 19 in Moscow. The Ukrainian delegation headed by Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has already left the capital of Russia. In Yushchenko's administration said that the delegation has full authority to sign a new contract. Perhaps that sentence Bohdan Sokolovsky will be discussed after the signing of the contract.
Russia does not supply gas to Ukraine from January 1, because the parties failed to agree on the price of gas. In the same time, Gazprom offered Ukraine to buy fuel at 250-450 dollars per thousand cubic meters. According to the latest data, at the beginning of 2009, natural gas for Ukraine will cost about 360 dollars per thousand cubic meters.
From January 7, Gazprom is not the transit of gas through Ukraine, as well as believes that the local "Naftogaz" steals fuel. In turn, Ukraine has repeatedly stated that do not use Russian gas for its needs.
