UNIAN reported.
Tymoshenko held that the Ukrainian leadership goskompanii Naftogaz, which is currently in Moscow for talks, provided at a level which could be signed on gas supplies.
Gazprom said earlier on December 31 that will stop supplying gas to Ukraine at 10 am 1 January 2009, when the contract will cease to operate on the supply of fuel in 2008, if by that time will not be awarded a new contract.
December 30, in Gazprom announced the beginning of preparations for the cessation of gas supplies to Ukraine in 2009. Representatives of the monopoly once again pointed out that the contract for the supply of gas for the next year will not be signed until the debt for 2008 will not be fully repaid.
Earlier Naftogaz "has completed the transfer of 1.5 billion dollars through debt, but still remained to be 600 million, taking into account the fines and penalties. In doing so, "Naftogaz" stated that there will be penalties to pay debts to Gazprom to the arbitration court decision, said RIA Novosti. Remember, even in November, Gazprom demanded that Ukraine immediately to return the debt for gas supplies through the Stockholm arbitration court.
In accordance with the terms of gas supplies to Ukraine if the contract for the supply will expire on 31 December 2008, the termination would have to supply at 10:00 Moscow time on January 1. In doing so, Gazprom's fear that Ukraine will begin to select a trunk gas pipeline that would jeopardize the supply of fuel to Europe.
