Transport Ministry will send the unemployed to repair roads.

The Ministry of Transport of Russia is ready to take up employment of citizens who lost their jobs during the crisis. This was announced by head of department, Igor Levitin, RIA Novosti. According to him, the Transport Ministry began to formulate a program for the employment of unemployed Russians on temporary work to repair and build roads. At the same standard, which determines the number of people needed to work on a particular stretch of road has already been prepared.
It is expected that the Transport Ministry will create new jobs especially in regions where recorded the highest unemployment rate. In addition, the agency will soon revert to the State Duma and the government to put forward an amendment to legislation that allows for a short time to provide subsidies from the budget of ministries and distribute them among regions.
Earlier, on 10 December it was reported that the Duma was introduced bill to increase unemployment benefits for Russians to 75 per cent of their official salary. In doing so, the payment should not exceed 4,900 rubles per month. The increased allowance will be able to get all the new jobless and even those who have resigned on their own volition. "
By the end of November in Russia have been officially registered 1.29 million unemployed. In doing so, according to Rosstat, in October the total number of unemployed Russians stood at 4.6 million. To reduce unemployment the Government of Russia intends to allocate 10 to 50 billion rubles. This 4 December, 2008 said Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Most of this sum will be spent on unemployment benefits.
