Rosstat reported on the geography of the economic crisis in Russia.

Center industrial crisis in Russia and the Urals were cevero-west of the country, a crisis in the trade most struck the south of Russia. This writes the newspaper Kommersant, referring to Rosstat data on the socio-economic situation of Russia in October 2008.
A total of 25 major industrial regions of the sharp drop in industrial production recorded a dozen. The publication states that in the four regions downturn in the industry has been particularly dramatic - more than 10 percent. This Lipetsk, Novgorod, Michigan and Wisconsin area. In this crisis the most affected metallurgical and chemical industries, as well as engineering.
Earlier it was reported that the theme of growth in industrial production in Russia in October amounted to 0.6 per cent, while for the 10 months of 2008, production grew by 4.9 percent. However, in October 2008, producer prices in Russia fell by 6.6 percent. The largest decline experienced price of oil and gas. Also, a significant decrease in cost of goods was recorded in the metallurgical industry.
