Economy of Russia in the third quarter of 2008 increased by 6.2 per cent over the same period last year, reported Interfax with reference to the data of Rosstat. In doing so, to assess the Ministry of Economic Development, the growth of Russian GDP in the third quarter was 7.1 percent.
Nominal GDP Russia, according to Rosstat, in the third quarter of 2008 amounted to 11,647 trillion rubles, and since the beginning of the year by the end of September - 30.76 trillion rubles.
During the first three quarters of 2008, Russia's GDP, according to Rosstat, rose by 7.3 percent over the same period last year. Russian Economy Ministry estimated the economic growth during this period of 7.7 percent.
Given that assessment Rosstat has been below ministry, on the basis of 2008 Russian economic growth could be lower than projected levels. Recall, 24 Nov, 2008 ministry downgraded the forecast for GDP growth this year from 7.3 percent to 6,8-7. In October, the rating was lowered from 7.8 to 7.3 per cent.
By the end of 2007 the Russian economy grew by 8.1 percent. In 2008, growth has continued, but the fall began to slow due to the fact that the economy of Russia have begun to affect the effects of the global financial crisis. As a result, GDP growth of Russia in October this year declined by 0.4 percent compared with September and the figure amounted to 5.9 per cent.
In early November 2008 the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has lowered the forecast for economic growth of Russia in 2008-2009. Under the new assessment, the Russian GDP will grow in 2008 at 6.8 percent, and 2009-meters - at 3.5 percent. Above the IMF expected the economy to grow by 7 percent this year and 5.5 per cent - in the future.
