The President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev signed a federal law providing for a phased increase in pension and other social payments in 2009. That was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Kremlin press service. The State Duma adopted the document on 12 December, and the Federation Council - 17 December.
The document, signed by Medvedev, said that the basic part of old age pension will increase 1 March 2009 to 156 rubles to 1,950 rubles, and in December - another 510 rubles to 2460 rubles. At the same time, the disabled and people who have reached 80 years, the basic pension will be raised from March 1, at 312 rubles to 3900 rubles.
The bill also includes an increase to 615 rubles amount of funds allocated for the recruitment of social services. In addition, plans to increase payments to several categories of citizens, including those affected by the Chernobyl accident, resulting from an accident in 1957 at the association "Mayak", as well as veterans, the disabled and the heroes of the Soviet Union, Russia, Sotstruda and others.
4 December, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that pensions would be raised three Russians, two times will increase the base part, and once - insurance. Premier also did not rule out that in the event of sharp price increases pensions can increase again.
