The Government has not changed the quota for labor migrants in Russia in 2009, as promised, Prime Minister of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and amended the rules for their calculation. This writes the newspaper Kommersant. Up to 50 per cent was increased only reserve change quotas.
December 4, Putin during the direct telephone line with the population declared the feasibility of reducing by 50 per cent quota for migrants in 2009. Later, Putin signed a decree authorizing in 2009 to adjust the quota of attracting labor migrants in Russia downwards. The same decree increases the reserve quotas for migrants who will enter the Russian Federation in 2009, from 30 to 50 percent.
In 2009, already approved quota for guest workers will be 3.97 million. Thus, the head of the Health Ministry Tatyana Golikova, which will take the decision to change quotas, could reduce the number of migrants up to 2 million, or increase this number to 6 million.
Originally claimed the 2008 quota (1.8 million) has been selected already summer. As a result, the Government was forced to fall to increase the quota to 3.4 million.
